A Victory For Justice

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

"The conviction of a Brazilian rancher who ordered the killing of Notre Dame de Namur Sister Dorothy Stang was a victory for justice.

She had said, "I don't want to flee, nor do I want to abandon the battle of these farmers who live in the forest without any protection. They have the sacrosanct right to aspire to a better life on land where they can live and work with dignity while respecting the environment." (Click here for a related article.)

Officials said the conviction represents justice for the nearly 800 people who have been murdered in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest fighting for indigenous land rights in the last 30 years.... read the article

This Is An Amazing Song

I've heard few songs that more movingly express a yielded life.

The Potter's Hand

Beautiful Lord, Wonderful Savior
I know for sure all of my days are held in your hands
Crafted into your perfect plans

You gently called me into your presence
Guiding me by Your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord to live all of my life
Through your eyes

I'm captured by your holy calling
Set me apart. I know you're drawing me to Yourself
lead me, Lord. I pray

Oh Take me, mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

Oh Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

You gently call me into your presence
Guiding me by your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord to live all of my life through your eyes

I'm captured by your holy calling
Set me apart. I know you're drawing me to yourself
lead me, Lord. I pray

Oh take me, mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

Oh call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

Retro Diva

"I JUST WANT TO CELEBRATE" A RETRO MUSIC ARTIST - Kim Boyce

This gospel diva Paved The way for Christian dance music. KIM BOYCE broke boundaries in Christian music, tearing down the walls between the formalities of stale religion, and it's antithesis--the celebration of a vibrant faith.

Kim, more recently. (picture below)

Kim was really the first Christian "dance" artist to go mainstream. Her heart for people and poignant lyrics, both of which clearly demonstrated the genuine love of God still did not keep her from much criticism for her "stage presence" (she actually "danced"- oh my!) and her upbeat music was thought to be irreverent by some.

I could be a millionaire
Have the finest clothes to wear
Ask me if I really care
I know I'm lost if You don't save me...
My desires rearrange my view
I have got to keep my eyes on You
I could search for neon fame
Until everybody knew my name
To lose your soul would be a shame
I know I'm lost if You don't save me

(from dance-pop Christian hit Save Me, words: Kim Boyce & Bryan Tankersley
from the album TIME AND AGAIN, Myrrh Records, 1988)

Kim Boyce, the "Madonna alternative? (I thought so.)

When I first saw this picture (above), part of the album artwork, I knew for sure: "Yes, she was.'" Kim's electrifying style and this album art clinched it for me!
Kim had her own style and fashion, yet celebrated various eras of fashion of music. This was a big compliment, as I was a huge Madonna fan at that point. (I still have hopes that Madonna will finally "come to Jesus" or "come back" to Jesus.) As for Kim, she's always maintained her Christian witness (as some put it) and had an individual streak of genius unparalled by artists of her time. So may God's blessing continue upon Kim and her husband, singer Gary Koreiba, as they continue to serve as artisans in musical theatre- currently with Pierce Arrow Theater in Branson, MO.
Like famed Amy Grant, Kim was definitely a pioneer, taking Christian music to the next level.

    Change

Renaissance8 is changing. The magazine has moved to this site. Also, I am praying and thinking about asking a phenomenal writer named Mark, a dedicated Christian who lives in Tennessee to be Renaissance8's online managing editor.

How fitting! The very word renaissance itself is about change and rebirth, so please pray as we recreate our look and strategize our market placement that the Holy Spirit would continue to recreate each of us (you, me--our fellow brothers and sisters, etc.) into being more like our Lord Jesus day by day. Renaissance8 - the old site portal will still be there while I'm moving content. Along with this move, all related sites will move to blogger.com as well, excepting our features which still work best with the other format like the events guide-- See the events guide (under construction) here.

Although the new format looks in some ways less like a professional website than the other platform, this is more functional-- plus it's MUCH less time-consuming and much easier to network. (The transition should be easy too-- just alot of cut-and-paste.)

And networking in this case is really what this is all about-- for to network is to reach people and we're doing it here for the purpose of touching lives with the power and presence of God.
